Luke 2:13-14 ESV

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

Reflection

I love the celebratory spirit of the holidays, and seeing the anticipation in everyone’s eyes. The change in weather, the decorations, the feasting. For many, it’s the end of the calendar year and a time to look back at their goals and dreams throughout the year.

How long had all of heaven been waiting for that moment when God left his place of glory and power to come and save his long-lost love? The entire kingdom of heaven was celebrating true love. A love which, without Him, we couldn’t hope to have the faintest taste of. A love that would cost Him so, so much.

Prayer

LORD, You’ve loved us so, so much. And with Your gift of love came life. Now let us give that life back to you every day, to love the lost like You’ve loved us. Thank you Jesus that Your love for us is greater than the pain and hardship you had to endure. Spirit, lead us into love. Love that does not count the cost. That calls us to leave all we have and meet the lost where they are. LORD what we want to celebrate above all is Your love, and the chances we get to say “yes” to your call to love others.
