Luke 1:39-40

Mary didn’t waste a minute.  She got up and traveled to a town in Judah in the hill country, straight to Zachariah’s house, and greeted Elizabeth.

Reflection

Mary, threatened by cultural challenges, ran to her family for comfort, solace, and safety. God’s call on her life was an enormous call. I wonder if she felt scared, nervous, and perhaps even anxious. I know I would! Did she feel equipped? Did she understand the significance of her service and sacrifice?

Since God knew she would need encouragement, He delivered blessing and comfort to Mary through Elizabeth’s words and companionship.  God, as always, was providing. Indeed, He is never NOT providing!

That is just like God! He always cares for us, even when we cannot see what He is doing. He provides exactly what we need, before we know to ask. Can’t see Him? Take a step. Do what you know to do NOW. Take action in faith. He is so faithful to reveal Himself in the middle of your circumstances.  See how He creates a way for peace, comfort, and joy in the middle of your scariest challenges. In Him, we can face unprecedented realities. And He promises that He is always with us. Look for Him in your circumstances, and see how He’s guiding and affirming you! Then watch what He does personally for you.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank you that you are greater than my circumstances. Thank you that you have called me into something greater than myself. Thank you that you are dependable, reliable, and able to do what you’ve promised. Thank you for providing assurance along  the way, because that gives me joy in the middle!
